ARTKids Color Mixing Practice Sheet
DARK TO LIGHT NEUTRALS

RED TO YELLOW

YELLOW TO BLUE

BLUE TO RED

DIRECTIONS
Blend the neutral colors to show the value or intensity from dark to light.
*TIP - if using watercolor paints, use water to dilute and allow the white of the background
to show through instead of adding white.
Paint in secondary and intermediate (tertiary) colors by mixing the two primaries.
Be sure to use a neutral primary color when you begin, one that has no undertone of another
primary in it. Example: neutral red, not red-violet, not red-orange.
Be careful not to overlap colors, or you will not have a pure color example.
