ARTKids

DIRECTIONS
  • OUTSIDE RING: Paint in primary colors, secondary colors, and then two different tertiary or intermediate colors that will show two phases of blending.

  • INNER AREA: Blend the outside ring color with white to show value and tint scale.
*TIP - if using watercolor paints, use water to dilute and allow the white of the background to show through instead of adding white.

  • Be sure to use a neutral primary color when you begin, one that has no undertone of another primary in it. Example: neutral red, not red-violet, not red-orange.

  • Be careful not to overlap colors, or you will not have a pure color example.

  • Pay attention to the compliment (contrasting color) that lays opposite on the color wheel.
