PRIMARY PUDDLE PAINTING

Groups:
Blue (3-5 years) and Yellow (6-8 years)

Objective: Learning to mix the primary colors; red, yellow, and blue.

You Will Need:
Clean water in small heavy bowl
paper towels
water color paints
small containers for diluting colors
shaving cream (hypoallergenic)
brushes or Q-tips
print out of color wheel (click here)


Exercise:
Cover table or workspace with waterproof covering (DO NOT USE PLASTIC WRAP). Spray a small mound of shaving cream on the workspace, and experiment with mixing the primary colors 2 at a time into fresh shaving cream with brushes or q-tips. Use the colorwheel printout to record the experiments. After seeing what happens with mixing 2, add one of the mixtures to another mixture. Watch closely, what happens to them? Did any of your mixtures end up as mud? What is mud?
