Art has always been an integral part of Pauline Lorfano's life. Commissions of historical scenes, landscapes, florals and still lifes are considered an exciting challenge to Mrs. Lorfano. She enjoys working in watercolor, oil, acrylic, gouache, charcoal and pencil.
Mrs. Lorfano's inspiration comes from what she sees in life. She enjoys all kinds of subject matter and has always enjoyed painting "plein air." Many times she starts a painting out of doors and finishes indoors after reviewing photos she took of the scene. She works on dry paper in a traditional method, sometimes experimenting when the subject "calls" for it.
Mrs. Lorfano's educational background
includes Maine College of Art, Westbrook College and University of Maine,
and numerous workshops. She has taught drawing and painting on the elementary
and college level. She continues to paint in her studio in Vienna, Virginia.
She has received numerous awards including the Historic Preservation Award from Historic Vienna Incorporated for her illustrations in Visiting Historic Vienna, A child's Book to Color, and numerous drawings and illustrations for the Town of Vienna. Mrs. Lorfano is listed in Who's Who in American Women and Who's Who in American Art.
