"My paintings are the expression of a special moment in my life. The paintings give feelings of warmth and cheerfulness as they reflect the beauty and complexity of what I observed and felt about these moments. To make you see what I have seen and felt is my ultimate goal.
The inspiration for my art comes from a love of nature and outdoor activity. Many of the paintings include scenes from the coastal region of North Carolina, the Blue Ridge Mountains as well as other places I have visited, both in the United States and aboard."

Oak Island artist Miriam Pinkerton's artwork reflects her ongoing interest in exploring new materials and techniques, and includes her mixed media collage pieces.
She begins each mixed media painting with layers of glazing, texturing each layer as she works. "I enjoy texture and have a passion for underlying and overlapping. As the work progresses, it tells me which was to go." Sometimes a piece may end up with as many as 12 layers of glazes and texturing.
Miriam's work has appeared in exhibitions such as the St. John's Museum, Watercolor Society ofNC, and the National Collage Society. She has recently been awarded signature membership in the Southern Watercolor Society and the Watercolor Society ofNC. Her Paintings are currently being shown at Franklin Square Gallery, Southport, NC, Sunset River Marketplace, Calabash, NC and Art Escapes, Morehead City, NC.
