My love of the outdoors is reflected in my painting. I consider myself an environmental plein air artist. Residing in Pacific Beach, California for over 30 years, I have painted on location usually in the early morning or late afternoon when the colors are rich and deep. Bold color and value range coupled with energetic brush strokes aare characteristic both in my drawing and paintings. I choose locations that the tourist and local usually miss..the small trails, the neighborhoon conyon and the juxtaposition of urban life against the delicacy of nature. I like making statements showing environmental concerns facing the decisions we make. People smile when they see me carting a huge canvas down a trail while wearing surgical scrubs as paint garb and the canvas starting to get airborne. I also work with models for my figurative work. I taught high school art for 31 years, and my Masters in Art Education,continuing professional art workshops, and art competitions and affiliations across America have had a profound influence on me.
