”My use of cut copper, raku pieces, sand, metallic leaf and fiber gives depth and breadth of expression to my artwork. I use a variety of geometric canvases in my art. The interweaving emotions upon the death of my sister occurring during my first visit to the Taos/Santa Fe area of New Mexico coupled with the visual sensations, textures, strengths, colors, openness, unbounded freedom and the very feeling of the air around me stirred my desire to capture these emotions - from the sad to the very elated - on my canvas. To this day my search to express depth, texture, color, line and the visual impact of the sky, earth and sea continues ."

I started my working career as a registered nurse. One of the hospitals in which I worked was near an art school. I promised myself that when I could, I would take art classes; that happened five years later. I have since studied with nationally known artists. I enjoy working in watercolor, acrylics, pastel and mixed media. Oils were also a favorite until an allergy prevented me from using them indoors. I work in a particular medium depending on what I want to say about my subject. I paint representationally but also create art with a spontaneous beginning or using mixed media for a more dimensional, abstracted piece of art (acrylic with cut metal, metallic leaf, broken Raku or glass, sand or whatever else I feel will tell my story).
